Job Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing goods and services required to support business operations. This role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, compliance, and supplier performance. The Procurement Specialist collaborates with internal stakeholders and external vendors to negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled in vendor management, contract negotiation, and supply chain coordination.
Job Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing Operations
Source, evaluate, and procure materials, equipment, supplies, and services
Create and process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and contracts
Ensure purchases align with budgetary guidelines and operational needs
Track order status, deliveries, and inventory levels
Vendor & Supplier Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified vendors and suppliers
Negotiate pricing, terms, service levels, and contract agreements
Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and performance
Monitor supplier performance and address quality, cost, or delivery issues
Contract & Compliance Management
Review and manage procurement contracts and agreements
Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
Support audits and procurement reviews
Maintain accurate procurement documentation and records
Cost Control & Strategic Sourcing
Analyze spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities
Support strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier consolidation
Conduct market research to evaluate pricing trends and alternative suppliers
Assist in developing procurement strategies aligned with business goals
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with finance, operations, engineering, IT, and project teams
Support project procurement planning and timelines
Resolve procurement-related issues and escalations
Reporting & Data Analysis
Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP or procurement systems
Generate reports on spend, supplier performance, and savings
Track KPIs such as cost reduction, on-time delivery, and contract compliance
Skills + Experience
Procurement & Supply Chain Skills
Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain principles
Experience with sourcing, purchasing, and vendor negotiations
Knowledge of contract management and supplier performance metrics
Analytical & Technical Skills
Proficiency with ERP or procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba, NetSuite, or similar)
Strong analytical, reporting, and cost-analysis abilities
Advanced Excel and data management skills
Communication & Professional Skills
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Required Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5+ years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience
Experience working with vendors, contracts, and purchase orders
Familiarity with procurement systems and reporting tools
